Munich, Germany, 18 January 2017. – Effective 1 January 2017, Mathias Weidner assumed the newly created position of Business Development Senior Partner at Munich-based Deutsche Private Equity (DPE). In this function, he oversees the search for suitable investment opportunities, mainly targeting mid-sized companies operating in sectors with interesting market prospects from a fundamental and long-term standpoint. With this in mind, he will optimize the DPE’s approach and presence in the market in order to sustainably enhance the efficiency of the entire deal sourcing process.

“DPE is already one of Germany’s leading investment companies focused on mid-sized companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We intend to strengthen this position through even more targeted communication with all those involved in the process in order to identify companies which suit our portfolio even more effectively and then to support them in their growth process”, states Weidner, summarizing his new field of activity. DPE investment experts have in-depth expertise and many years of experience in the sectors of business services, energy and environmental technology, industrial technologies, healthcare and e-business. The third fund through which DPE is rigorously implementing its strategy of investing in mid-sized growth companies in the DACH region has just been closed. The demand for Fund III significantly exceeded its predefined limit of € 575 million.

Prior to joining DPE, Weidner was a long-standing partner at IMAP, a leading international consultancy company specialised in mergers and acquisitions. From 2010 onwards, Weidner focused on transactions between Chinese and German companies and acted as Chairman of the IMAP China Desk.
